The Canyon County Recorder’s Office will temporarily stop accepting passport applications beginning on March 19, 2020, until further notice. This temporary measure is being implemented to ensure the office can continue performing its state-mandated functions of recording and issuing marriage licenses, alcohol licenses, and catering permits (passports is a non-mandated elective service). Exceptions may be made in cases of an emergency where a person or persons needs to apply for a passport. Those facing an emergent circumstance are asked to please call (208) 454-7455 to explain the emergency, and an appointment will be scheduled if necessary. Please know the decision to temporarily stop accepting passport applications was not made lightly. The office is short-staffed, and this step was needed to allow it to remain open to the public while also trying to limit the potential exposure and spread of COVID-19.
